I couldn't end without a friendly reminder of some of the typical holiday items that are unsafe for our dogs.

  • Chocolate (especially dark and baking chocolate) is toxic.
  • Xylitol (artificial sweetener in some candies and baked goods). Can come under a variety of different names as well.
  • Grapes and raisins (found in fruit cakes etc.).
  • Macadamia nuts.
  • Alcohol (in eggnog, fruit cake, and our glasses left on the coffee table).
  • Tinsel and decorations... can cause intestinal blockage if swallowed.
  • Electrical cords from lights are a risk of shock if chewed (puppies & adolescents).
  • Many common Christmas plants such as Poinsettias, and holly and mistletoe berries.

Wishing you a wonderful and happy 2025!

Cheers,

Sandy
